Change in ability to barricade Empty
PostSubject: Change in ability to barricade   Change in ability to barricade EmptyWed Nov 26, 2008 10:41 am

Hey! I don't know if it is a coincidence or not, but... This morning Mere came across a building that had 4 zombies inside and about 4-5 survivors. The doors were open, so I hit the barricade button and hit on the first try! I had about a 50-50 chance of being able to cade for the next several tries!
Now, I don't want to get too excited, but... I don't recall being able to cade this well with 4 zeds inside a building since Kevan allowed the zombies to dodge in front of us...

Anyone else seeing an increased ability to cade with zeds inside a building recently?!?

I agree, in the last couple of days I have had amazing luck cading. I had a bit of a rough time this morning on a building, but it was only after it was strongly caded.

I think what you are seeing is the workings of the great maker Kevan who will, when it seems right in his sight, adjust the fundamental laws of the UD universe based on his read of the zombie/survivor balance. Bottom line is lots of red on the map seems to mean a tweak to the hit and search percentages in our favor.

My advice is to not expect it to last forever, but stock up on what you can, while you can.

*ahem*
I realize that the FAK search rate has increased recently, and agree with the reason. I was asking whether others noticed an increased ability to cade in a building containing zombies.
Have you noticed a difference in cading ability?
The reason I'm trying to find out if it has changed is so I know whether to adjust my break-in methods or not. Recently, I would have said that if there were more than 3 zeds in a building, you would have to kill at least one of them to have a chance to cade enough to keep others from following. Since I had a much easier time cading this morning, I'm wondering if it is a fluke or a definiite change in the percentages. If so, we should alter our response if there are more than 3 zeds in a building.

Ah, sorry, maybe I've a got a little early onset turkey stupor. Let me try again.

While all anecdotal, yes I believe I have seen an increase in the cading percentages with zombies present. While not scientific, I think I've noticed the success rates tail off once the barricades get above the VSB level, but not completely sure about that. If I might offer this as a suggestion, how about throwing 3-4 ap at cading and then if you see one or two of them succeed keep up the cading.

While not specifically related to what you've asked, I believe I've also noticed a similar increase in the axe hit percentages a less drastic but still favorable increase in ammunition and needle searches.

The needle searches were particularly noticeable. A couple of weeks ago the hit rates were making the manufacture choice a better option that searching. I had never seen that before.

For what it's worth, I am the founder of and principal contributor to the Construction Percentages wikipage, which as you might guess contains statistical data on barricade rates.

We are sorely lacking in data for barricade blocking! If any of you would care to collect data on your barricading, we would love to have you contribute as long as you have sufficient detail – basically, AP spent vs successful constructions at major level of barricades, and if there are zombies present, their numbers as well as how many failures were due to "zombies lurching in the way." (See the wiki talk page for more detail.)

Cheers! Very Happy
