how do you like his work? What is his style? I'm a strong Stephen King reader and a few years ago I discovered Koontz. I haven't heard too much about Patterson though....

| Chicklet, I do like Patterson's work; I have read many of his books esp the ones with Alex Cross detective. He does not bring in the supernatural like King or Koonz. He writes in short chapters which makes it easy to read in odd moments. If you like a dash of the supernatural, try one I just finished also. Only one I've read by him but it was a rip snorter! | I've been plowing through books by Haruki Murakami lately. He's the best author I've read in some time. Just finished this:
South of the Border, West of the Sun (it was great)
And I've just started this one:
Wild Sheep Chase

| I keep this one around for a quick diversion -- Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives by David Eagleman
I have other novels and books I read, but I'm so short on time right now, I would be lying if I said that I was actively reading one of them.

| Brisngr by Christopher Paolini for the 28th time.
I reread them for the details and possible foreshadowing to the fourth book I may have missed... It's the only way to amuse myself without a computer.

| A self serving Commissar becomes an unlikely hero. This series is fun though a little formulaic as time goes on. I know very little about Warhammer 40K either. Knowledge of that "world" I am sure is helpful but not necessary. | |

| Well now that I saw the movie The Help last weekend and spent a good part of it trying not to cry, looks like I'll be reading the book. (And shame on me for not reading it first!) | |

| Ah books...
Just wrapped up reading the Asimov original Foundation trilogy, classic nougatty sci-fi goodness. Am also in the middle of a massive compendium of Zelazny's Amber series and have just started in on Asimov's I Robot, which I somehow missed ever reading up til now.
I've a few old Ross MacDonald hard boiled detective novels on stand by, and then there's a Poirot book that gets the occasional glance too. It's nice to have a Kindle for the easy instant download thing, but I find I still prefer my paper books.
Of course that's just for pleasure. Businesswise, well there's a lovely tome on microbiology that's sure to cure any insomnia...
